A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck the sea area off Goudoura, near Siteia in eastern Crete, at 22:49 on Saturday night. The tremor was recorded and revised by the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory. Siteia is a coastal town in the Lasithi regional unit, approximately 70 km east of Agios Nikolaos. Earthquakes in this range are relatively common in the eastern Mediterranean and are generally felt as shaking or rumbling rather than causing structural damage. If you experience aftershocks, move away from buildings and follow standard earthquake safety procedures. No damage or injuries have been reported at this time based on available information.
