Two small boats carrying more than 90 migrants were intercepted in the waters south of Heraklion, Crete. The Greek Coast Guard located and assisted the vessels as part of ongoing maritime search and rescue operations in the area. This type of incident is common in the southern Aegean and Libyan Sea routes. For tourists, there is no direct impact on travel or safety at Heraklion's port or airport. Coastal areas near Heraklion remain open and accessible. If you are taking a ferry or boat trip in southern Crete, minor delays are possible if Coast Guard vessels are active in the area, but disruptions to commercial routes are not expected.
