A case of meningitis has been reported at the EPAL vocational school in Moires, a town in the Heraklion regional unit of southern Crete. The school has been ordered to remain closed on Monday as a precautionary measure while health authorities investigate. Moires is located inland in the Messara plain, approximately 45 kilometres southwest of Heraklion. This incident does not directly affect tourist areas or activities, but visitors experiencing symptoms such as sudden severe headache, stiff neck, fever, or sensitivity to light should seek medical attention promptly. The nearest major hospital is the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI). Local health services are monitoring the situation.
