Crete Faces Planned Power Outages Thursday for Grid Maintenance

Wednesday, 13 May 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
Crete's electricity distribution operator DEDDIE has scheduled planned power outages across several areas of the island on Thursday, May 14. These interruptions are typically carried out for maintenance or network upgrade work on the grid. Affected areas have not been specified in detail, so tourists staying in accommodation across Crete should check with their hosts or hotel staff about whether their area is impacted. During outages, air conditioning, charging points, and kitchen appliances will be unavailable. Carrying a portable charger and downloading offline maps before the cutoff is advisable. Outages are usually a few hours and scheduled during daytime. Businesses such as restaurants and shops may also be temporarily closed or operating at reduced capacity in affected zones.
