A case of meningitis has been identified at the EPAL vocational school in Moires, a town in the Heraklion regional unit of Crete. As a precautionary measure, the school will remain closed the following day to allow for health protocols to be carried out. Moires is an inland town in the Messara plain, primarily frequented by visitors heading to nearby archaeological sites and beaches. This incident is localized to the school and does not pose a direct risk to tourists. However, visitors experiencing symptoms such as severe headache, stiff neck, fever, or sensitivity to light should seek medical attention promptly. The nearest hospital facilities are in Heraklion, approximately 45 kilometers north of Moires.
