Back to newsConstruction work on the BOAK highway in eastern Crete is advancing at a steady pace, according to a recent video report by NEA Television Crete. The BOAK is a major east-west road infrastructure project linking the northern and southern coasts of the island, designed to significantly improve travel times across the region. Work is currently focused on the eastern section of Crete. Tourists driving through eastern Crete should expect some traffic disruptions and temporary lane restrictions near active construction zones. Planning extra travel time is advisable, particularly when heading to destinations such as Agios Nikolaos, Sitia, or the Lasithi Plateau. Once completed, the highway will make road travel across Crete faster and more comfortable for both visitors and residents.
