An international academic conference dedicated to Nikos Kazantzakis, Crete's most celebrated author and the writer behind Zorba the Greek, has opened its call for scientific paper submissions. Kazantzakis was born in Heraklion in 1883, and his legacy remains central to Cretan cultural identity. The conference will bring together researchers and scholars from around the world to discuss his life and literary work. For visitors interested in Cretan culture, the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum in Myrtia, a village near Heraklion, is open year-round and offers an excellent introduction to his life. His tomb is located on the Martinengo Bastion of the Venetian walls in Heraklion and is free to visit. Dates and location for the conference have not yet been announced.
