Wildfire near Afrati, Crete contained in 40 minutes, no structures affected

A wildfire broke out on Monday at 1:00 PM near the Afrati area in the municipality of Viannos, Heraklion district, eastern Crete. Agricultural land was engulfed in flames, and firefighting crews responded quickly, bringing the blaze under control within approximately 40 minutes. The fire remained confined to rural terrain and did not affect residential areas. Visitors traveling through the Viannos area on Monday afternoon may have experienced minor disruptions.
