Back to newsThree journalists were injured at Araxos Airport, near Patras in the Peloponnese, during a ceremony marking the inaugural landing of TUI's new Boeing 737-8 aircraft named "Patra." The journalists had climbed a ladder to film and photograph the event when the ladder collapsed, causing their fall and resulting injuries. The incident does not directly affect Crete or flights to the island, but travelers flying with TUI should be aware that the airline recently introduced this new aircraft to its Greek fleet. Araxos Airport serves western Greece and is not a Cretan airport. No disruption to TUI flights operating to Crete's Heraklion or Chania airports has been reported as a result of this incident.
