Back to newsEmergency traffic restrictions are in place tonight in Hersonissos, a popular coastal resort town located about 25 kilometers east of Heraklion. The Heraklion Police Directorate has issued the temporary measures due to a local event drawing large crowds to the area. Certain roads in the Hersonissos settlement will be closed or restricted to manage the increased flow of vehicles. Tourists staying in or planning to visit Hersonissos this evening should expect delays and possible road closures around the town center. Allow extra travel time, consider parking outside the restricted zone and walking, and follow directions from local police officers on site. The restrictions apply for the duration of the event and normal traffic flow is expected to resume once it concludes.
