Heraklion teaches 5,000 students road safety at Traffic Education Park

The Municipality of Heraklion runs an active road safety education program at the Traffic Education Park (Πάρκο Κυκλοφοριακής Αγωγής) in Heraklion, where approximately 5,000 students participate each year. The program uses hands-on, experiential activities to teach children the rules of the road as both future drivers and pedestrians. For visitors, this reflects a broader municipal focus on traffic awareness in Heraklion, Crete's largest and busiest city. Roads in and around the city can be congested, particularly during summer months, and driving standards vary. Tourists renting vehicles are advised to drive cautiously, observe local speed limits, and be alert to pedestrians and cyclists, especially near schools and urban areas. The park is located in Heraklion and is primarily a facility for local schoolchildren rather than a public tourist attraction.
