DYPA Opens Social Tourism Vouchers Program for Retired Workers

Thursday, 7 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Greece's state employment agency DYPA has opened applications for its new Social Tourism program, which provides subsidized travel vouchers to eligible beneficiaries. This round targets retired former self-employed workers, who can apply online through the DYPA portal during the active submission window. The program funds stays at participating hotels and accommodation providers across Greece, including Crete. Properties enrolled in the scheme may see higher occupancy from domestic Greek travelers during the program period, which could affect availability at certain budget and mid-range accommodations island-wide. Tourists visiting Crete are not directly affected by this program, as it is reserved for qualifying Greek residents. However, travelers planning stays at smaller, locally run hotels this season should book in advance, as domestic demand from social tourism programs typically increases occupancy at participating properties between spring and early autumn.
