The strike is organized by the Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO) and will halt ferry services across Greece, including routes to and from Crete via ports such as Heraklion, Chania, and Sitia.
Tourists planning to travel by ferry on that date should expect full cancellations and make alternative arrangements in advance. Flights are not affected. If you have a ferry booking for May 1, contact your ferry operator or travel agent immediately to rebook for May 2 or later.
