Hazardous Pavement on Heraklion Seafront Injures Resident

Monday, 11 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
A resident was injured near a well-known restaurant on the Heraklion seafront promenade (Leoforos Ikarou) after tripping on a raised, uneven section of pavement. The incident occurred around 8:00 PM. The person escaped serious injury. Damaged or buckled sidewalks are a recurring hazard along this busy coastal road, particularly in areas with heavy foot traffic near waterfront restaurants and cafes. Tourists walking the Heraklion seafront, especially after dark, should watch their step on raised or cracked pavement sections. Wearing sturdy footwear rather than sandals or flip-flops is advisable for evening strolls along this stretch. The promenade remains open and is a popular area for dining and walking.
