Strong Winds Force Emergency Alert in Phaistos, Crete

Friday, 17 April 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
The Municipality of Phaistos, in the southern Messara region of Crete, has issued an emergency alert warning of strong stormy winds affecting the area. The notice, issued for early morning hours, urges residents and visitors to take precautionary measures. Tourists planning to visit outdoor sites in the Phaistos area, including the Minoan palace of Phaistos and the surrounding archaeological sites, should exercise caution and monitor local conditions before heading out. If you are in the region, stay away from trees, unsecured structures, and exposed coastal areas during the storm. Check with your accommodation for local updates and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. The Phaistos district covers the fertile Messara plain and parts of the south coast, so beach and boat excursions in that area may also be affected.
