Greece Launches Whit Monday Tourism Vouchers for Discounted Summer Stays

Friday, 1 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Greece's Whit Monday long weekend (Pentecost) falls in June 2026, creating a three-day holiday known locally as the Agiou Pneumatos triimero. The Greek government is offering tourism vouchers that allow eligible residents to book discounted stays at participating hotels and accommodations across Greece, including Crete. These vouchers are part of a subsidized domestic tourism program aimed at making short breaks more affordable. Applications are submitted online through a designated government portal, with limited slots available. For tourists visiting Crete during this period, expect higher occupancy across the island as Greek travelers take advantage of the long weekend. Popular destinations such as Heraklion, Chania, and Rethymno will be busier than usual. Booking accommodation in advance is strongly recommended. The voucher program is open to Greek residents only and does not apply to international visitors.
