Greece Faces Showers and Instability Over May Day Weekend

Sunday, 26 April 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Rain is expected in parts of Greece over the May 1st holiday weekend. On Monday, localised showers will affect mountainous areas of western Greece, while Tuesday will bring a new period of atmospheric instability across broader regions. Crete's western interior and mountain zones, including the White Mountains area, may see brief rainfall during this period. Coastal and lowland areas are likely to remain drier, though overcast skies are possible. Tourists planning hikes or outdoor excursions in the Cretan highlands around May 1st should carry a light rain layer and check forecasts from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) before heading out. Beach conditions along the northern and southern coasts should remain largely unaffected. The instability is expected to be short-lived, with more settled weather likely by mid-week.
