The BOAK is a major east-west highway currently under development across Crete. Works at this stage are ongoing and disruptions of this kind can occur with little advance notice.
Visitors traveling by car in the Chania region should expect possible delays on or near the BOAK corridor. Allow extra travel time, especially if heading to or from Chania city, the airport, or destinations along the northern coast road. Checking local traffic conditions before departure is advisable during active construction phases.
