Back to newsPharmacies across Crete are experiencing serious shortages of essential medications, particularly respiratory and psychiatric drugs. The president of the Heraklion Pharmacists Association, Aristotle Skountakis, has described the situation as a significant burden for both pharmacists and patients, who are struggling to maintain their treatment routines. Visitors to Crete who rely on respiratory medications such as inhalers or asthma treatments, or who take psychiatric prescriptions, should bring an adequate supply from home for the full duration of their stay. Do not count on being able to purchase or replace these medications locally. If you run short, contact your accommodation host for guidance on reaching a hospital or clinic, as medical facilities may have more stock than community pharmacies.
