Varypotamo River Trail

A pleasant 6 km trail following the Varypotamos river through lush vegetation in central Crete, near Heraklion. The river runs year-round, creating shaded pools and small cascades. Partially marked trail; walking shoes are fine. Best October to June. Some wading may be required in spring. Carry 1 litre of water. Data partially verified — check local conditions.
