Toplou Monastery Coastal Trail

A 4 km trail from the impressive fortified Toplou Monastery to the coast near Vai (famous for its palm forest) in far east Crete. The monastery has a small museum and produces excellent wine and olive oil. Best April to October. Very exposed, hot in summer — carry 1.5 litres of water. The monastery charges a small admission fee.
