Thripti Mountains Traverse

A wild 12 km traverse through the remote Thripti mountains of eastern Crete, one of the least-visited ranges on the island. The area harbours rare endemic plants and griffon vultures. No marked trail — experienced navigation essential. Carry 2.5 litres of water and a paper map. Access from Ierapetra inland. Best April to June. Inform someone of your route before setting out.
