Balos Lagoon Coastal Path

The 1.5 km descent from the car park to the famous Balos lagoon at the northwestern tip of Crete. The path is rocky and exposed with no shade — wear a hat and carry water. The lagoon has a seasonal snack bar but no reliable water. Accessible by car via a rough 8 km dirt road from Kissamos (4WD or cautious driving recommended) or by ferry from Kissamos port (seasonal). Best May to October. Stunning turquoise water.
