The 14th Chania Film Festival opens on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with the premiere of The Dragon, an iconic film by Nikos Koundouros. This neo-realist masterpiece blends ancient tragedy, film noir, and contemporary Greek reality. The screening will be honored by the presence of Soteria Matziri-Koundouros and collaborators of the legendary director. The film is part of celebrations marking the centenary of Koundouros's birth and the tribute year for composer Manos Hadjidakis.
