A minor earthquake of magnitude 2.7 struck approximately 21 kilometers south-southwest of Goudouras, a small coastal village on the southeastern tip of Crete, early Wednesday morning, July 8, 2026, at 3:24 am local time (GMT +3). At this magnitude, the tremor was too weak to cause structural damage and was unlikely to have been felt by most residents or visitors.
