The extreme heat is affecting multiple countries and poses serious health risks, particularly for elderly travelers and those with underlying conditions. For tourists currently in Crete or planning to visit, authorities recommend avoiding outdoor activities between 11:00 and 17:00, staying hydrated with at least two liters of water per day, and seeking air-conditioned spaces during peak heat hours. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and apply high-SPF sunscreen regularly.
