Heavy construction traffic creates hazards on Chania's Akrotiriou Road

Roadworks are currently underway on Konstantinou Mitsotaki Street (also known as Akrotiriou Road) near the Agios Matthaios area in Chania. The work is taking place at the site of the former "Neraida" entertainment venue. Heavy vehicles are entering and exiting the construction zone, creating hazardous conditions for passing traffic. Drivers and pedestrians should exercise caution when traveling through this stretch of road. If you are heading toward Akrotiri peninsula, allow extra time and follow any temporary signage or traffic directions on site. Reduce speed when approaching the works area and be alert for construction vehicles pulling onto the road without warning.
