Friday, 26 June 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
The Archaeological Collection of Archanes, a museum near the town of Archanes in central Crete (south of Heraklion), will remain closed until July 10. The collection houses important Minoan artifacts from excavations in the surrounding area, including findings from the nearby Minoan cemetery and palace site. Visitors planning to include this site in their itinerary should postpone their visit until after July 10. No reason for the closure has been officially stated. Archanes is approximately 15 kilometers south of Heraklion and is easily reachable by car or local bus. The town itself remains open and worth visiting for its traditional architecture and local tavernas.
