Back to newsA new heat wave is set to return to Crete, bringing temperatures as high as 37°C (98°F). After a brief cooler period, summer conditions are reasserting themselves across the island, with inland areas expected to feel the heat most intensely. Coastal locations will remain somewhat more comfortable due to sea breezes.
Tourists should take standard precautions during peak heat hours, typically between 11:00 and 17:00: stay hydrated, seek shade or air-conditioned spaces during midday, and avoid prolonged sun exposure without sunscreen. Light clothing and a hat are strongly recommended for outdoor activities. Early morning and early evening are the best times for sightseeing, hiking, or beach walks. Water and sunscreen supplies are widely available at pharmacies and supermarkets across the island.
