Heraklion Faces 24-Hour Water Outage After Pipeline Break

Wednesday, 24 June 2026/SourceFlashnews/1 min read
A serious pipeline break affecting the Heraklion Municipal Water and Sewerage Company (DEYAH) network has caused a 24-hour water supply interruption across several areas of Heraklion, Crete's largest city and regional capital. The damage to the main water infrastructure requires repair work that will leave affected neighborhoods without running water for the duration of the outage. Tourists staying in hotels or rental accommodations in Heraklion should check with their hosts whether their property is in an affected area. If your accommodation loses water supply, stock up on bottled water from local supermarkets or convenience stores before the cutoff begins. Most hotels maintain emergency water reserves, but it is worth confirming this directly with reception. DEYAH is expected to restore full service within 24 hours once repair work is completed.
