Chania Shuts Down for Nationwide Public Sector Strike May 13

Friday, 8 May 2026/Haniotika Nea/1
On Tuesday, May 13, public sector employees in Chania are joining a nationwide strike organized by ADEDY, the civil servants' union. Government offices, public services, and municipal departments in Chania are expected to be closed or operating with reduced capacity throughout the day. Tourists visiting Chania should plan accordingly: avoid scheduling appointments at government offices, passport or visa services, or public administrative offices on that date. Tourist attractions, private businesses, hotels, restaurants, and transport services are not expected to be affected. If you need any official documents processed or public services during your visit, aim to do so before or after May 13. The strike is expected to last for the day only.
