Back to newsThe port of Siteia, in eastern Crete, is hosting open-air World Cup screenings directly on the waterfront. Matches are projected onto a large sailing canvas suspended over the sea, with the Aegean as a backdrop, creating an unusual outdoor cinema experience unlike anything else on the island.
The screenings are free to attend and take place at the town's main harbor. Siteia is approximately 70 kilometers east of Agios Nikolaos and about 170 kilometers from Heraklion, making it a worthwhile destination for travelers already exploring the Lasithi region.
The event runs throughout the 2026 World Cup tournament. Visitors can watch matches from the harbor promenade alongside locals. Siteia is also known for its relaxed atmosphere, sandy beach, and Venetian fort, making it a practical stop to combine with an evening screening.
