Two search and rescue operations were conducted in the sea area south-east of Kaloi Limenes, on the southern coast of Crete. Greek Coast Guard vessels responded to vessels carrying migrants, who were safely transported to the port of Agia Galini. The operations reflect an ongoing pattern of maritime arrivals along Crete's southern coastline, an area that sees regular Coast Guard activity due to its proximity to North African and Middle Eastern crossing routes. For tourists visiting the south coast, particularly around Agia Galini and the Messara Gulf, occasional Coast Guard presence and vessel activity in these waters is normal and unrelated to tourist safety. Beaches and coastal areas in the region remain open and accessible. Visitors should have no concerns about their own security while traveling in this part of Crete.
