Crete Basks in 30°C Summer Heat While Mainland Greece Faces Storms

Wednesday, 13 May 2026/CretaOne/1
Temperatures across Crete are climbing to around 30°C, marking the arrival of summer conditions on the island. Visitors can expect warm, sunny weather typical of the season, with the heat most noticeable during midday and early afternoon hours. While rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast for parts of mainland Greece, particularly in the mountainous areas of Thessaly, Crete itself remains largely unaffected by these weather systems. The island's southern position means it generally enjoys more stable and drier conditions than northern Greek regions during this period. Tourists should stay hydrated, apply sunscreen regularly, and avoid prolonged sun exposure between 12:00 and 16:00. Light, breathable clothing is recommended. If you plan to hike in Crete's mountain areas such as the White Mountains or Dikti range, carry water and check local forecasts before setting out.
