The Chania Port Authority has issued a navigation warning for boats and vessels in the area of the "Karavia" firing range off the coast of Chania. Live fire military exercises are scheduled for July 7 and 8, 2026. During these dates, all maritime traffic is asked to avoid passing through the designated sea zone. If you are planning a boat trip, sailing excursion, or water activity departing from Chania during those two days, check with your operator or the local port authority for updated route information. Private boat owners should also consult official notices before setting out. Outside the restricted zone and scheduled times, coastal activities in the wider Chania region remain unaffected.
