Visitors to Heraklion can pay their respects at the monument, and those interested in Cretan music culture may also wish to visit Anogeia, a mountain village about 75 km from Heraklion that remains a living center of traditional Cretan music and is closely associated with the Xylouris family, several of whom continue to perform traditional Cretan music today.
