Greek Jets Intercept Turkish F-16s After Aegean Airspace Violations

Monday, 25 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Greek air force jets intercepted two armed Turkish F-16 fighter aircraft over the Aegean Sea following 10 violations of Greek airspace. Incidents of this nature occur periodically in the region and are handled routinely by Greek military authorities. This particular event took place over the Aegean and does not affect Crete directly. Airports in Crete, including Heraklion and Chania, are operating normally with no reported disruptions to commercial flights. Tourists traveling to or from Crete should experience no impact on their plans. Greek and Turkish airspace disputes are a longstanding geopolitical matter and civilian travel throughout the Greek islands remains unaffected.
