Back to newsCrete, and the Lasithi region in particular, is set to reach millions of viewers across Britain and Ireland through two of ITV's most recognised television programmes. A familiarisation trip was organised to showcase the island's landscapes, culture, and tourism offerings to ITV producers and presenters. The exposure is expected to significantly boost interest in Crete among UK and Irish travellers, two of the island's largest visitor markets. Lasithi, located in eastern Crete, is known for its plateau villages, the Dikteon Cave (birthplace of Zeus in Greek mythology), and traditional rural life. Tourists already planning a visit to Crete may find Lasithi worth adding to their itinerary, particularly those arriving via Heraklion, which is roughly 60 kilometres from the plateau. No broadcast dates have been confirmed yet.
