Two vessels ran aground in Greek waters recently, with incidents reported near Aegina and Antiparos. In the Aegina case, a yacht carrying 14 people ran aground northeast of the island. All 14 on board, including 11 foreign passengers and 3 crew members, are reported safe. Note that these incidents occurred in the Saronic Gulf and Cyclades regions, not in Crete. Tourists sailing or chartering boats around Greek islands should be aware that coastal waters can present navigational hazards, particularly in unfamiliar areas.
