Back to newsPower outages are scheduled across several areas of Crete today, Sunday, June 28, as DEDDIE (the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) carries out planned maintenance, reinforcement, and upgrade works on the local electrical grid. These are scheduled interruptions, not emergency failures, and are temporary in nature.
If you are staying in or traveling through affected areas, expect disruptions to air conditioning, charging devices, and accommodation facilities for parts of the day. Hotels and larger establishments typically have backup generators, but smaller rentals and apartments may be without power during the works.
It is advisable to charge phones and essential devices in advance, carry cash as card payment terminals may be offline, and confirm with your accommodation whether your area is affected. DEDDIE is required to notify residents in advance of all planned outages.
