Back to newsIlingas Beach, located in the Sfakia region of southwestern Crete, is one of the island's most dramatic and secluded coastal spots. Accessible only by boat or on foot via a rugged coastal path, it features striking rock formations rising directly from the crystal-clear Libyan Sea. The beach sits within the wider White Mountains area, known for its raw, unspoiled landscapes. Visitors reaching Ilingas are rewarded with near-total seclusion, as its difficult access keeps crowds minimal. Boat taxis from the nearby village of Loutro offer the easiest route. The Sfakia area is best visited between May and October. Wear sturdy footwear if hiking and bring water, as there are no facilities on the beach itself.
