GIRINI MARE Hotel Lands €500K Grant for Agia Galini Expansion

Monday, 18 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
The GIRINI MARE hotel in Agia Galini, a coastal village on the southern shore of the Rethymno regional unit, has received nearly 500,000 euros in approved funding through Greece's national development law to expand its capacity with additional rooms. The investment is part of a broader wave of tourism infrastructure growth across Crete. For visitors, the expansion means more accommodation options will become available in Agia Galini, a quieter alternative to busier north coast resorts, known for its fishing harbour and relaxed atmosphere. The village is accessible by car from Rethymno in approximately one hour via inland mountain roads. No opening date for the new rooms has been announced yet.
