Marella Discovery brings 1,700 cruise passengers to Crete

Friday, 3 July 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
The cruise ship Marella Discovery docked at Souda Port, near Chania, early on Friday morning, bringing over 1,700 cruise passengers to western Crete for a day visit. The vessel is scheduled to depart in the afternoon bound for Piraeus. Souda is located approximately 7 kilometers east of Chania old town and is one of the largest natural harbors in the Mediterranean. Visitors arriving by cruise can reach Chania city center by taxi (around 10 minutes) or local bus. Day visitors should expect the Chania Venetian harbor, market, and old town to be busier than usual during morning and early afternoon hours. Those planning to visit these areas on Friday may prefer arriving early or waiting until late afternoon once the cruise passengers have re-boarded.
