Back to newsA new hotel development has received environmental approval in Georgioupolis, a coastal village on the western Crete shoreline in the Chania regional unit. The project will be built on a plot spanning approximately 27,044 square metres, making it a sizeable addition to the local accommodation landscape.
Georgioupolis is known for its long sandy beach, the Almyros river, and its relatively quiet atmosphere compared to busier resort towns. The new property is expected to expand lodging options in this area, which attracts visitors looking for a relaxed base with easy access to both Chania city (around 38 km west) and Rethymno (around 23 km east).
No opening date has been announced yet. Travellers planning trips to the Georgioupolis area in the near term will not be affected, as the project is still in the early approval and planning stages.
