A few meters from the central square of the village Stavrochori (formerly Stravodoxari ) in the province Ierapetra is the oldest neighborhood of the village, Mesochoria . In the square of Mesochoria , where narrow picturesque alleys lead, is the two-aisled church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) and Panagia Zoodochos Pigi (Life Giving Spring).
The southern aisle of the church is dedicated to Saint George . This nave preserves part of the original frescoes dating from the Venetian Period.
The north aisle of the Zoodochos Pigi was added in a later phase and does not bear murals.
