The earthquake was detected by Volcano Discovery's seismic monitoring network. At magnitude 2.3, this is a very weak seismic event and falls well below the threshold typically felt by people on the surface. No damage, injuries, or disruptions have been reported. The Aegean and Ionian seas are seismically active regions, and minor tremors of this scale occur regularly throughout Greece. Tourists visiting Crete or traveling through the southern Aegean should be aware of this normal geological activity but have no reason for concern. No action or precautions are necessary.
