The earthquake was detected by Volcano Discovery monitoring services. At this magnitude, the tremor was likely felt slightly by nearby residents but poses no danger to people or structures. No damage or injuries have been reported. Tourists staying in the Ierapetra or Makry Gialos area may have noticed a brief, light shaking if awake at the time. No action is required. Seismic activity of this level is common in the eastern Mediterranean region and does not affect travel plans, accommodations, or beach access in Crete.
