Back to newsGreece and France are reporting strong Mediterranean tourism demand this summer, with both countries seeing high visitor numbers despite ongoing disruptions affecting European air travel. Travelers flying to Crete should be aware that flight cancellations and airport delays remain a wider European issue, particularly at major hub airports. Greek airports, including Heraklion (HER) and Chania (CHQ), are operating normally, but connections routed through French or other European hubs may be affected. Visitors are advised to book direct flights to Crete where possible, arrive at departure airports with extra time, and check their airline's status before travel. Travel insurance covering cancellations and rebooking costs is strongly recommended this season. Those already on the island are unaffected by these disruptions and can continue their stay without concern.
