Hellenic Coast Guard Receives Patrol Vessel to Enhance Rescue Operations

Monday, 25 May 2026/SourceFlashnews/1 min read
The Vardinogiannis Foundation and Motor Oil have donated a patrol vessel and four vehicles to the Hellenic Coast Guard. The new equipment strengthens maritime surveillance and rescue capabilities across Greek waters, including the seas around Crete. For visitors, this means improved response times in coastal emergencies and enhanced safety for those swimming, snorkeling, or taking boat excursions. The Coast Guard operates rescue coordination centers throughout Crete, including in Heraklion and Chania. Tourists are reminded to check sea conditions before water activities, wear life jackets on smaller vessels, and note the emergency number 112 for maritime incidents. This kind of institutional investment reflects ongoing efforts to maintain safety standards across one of Greece's busiest tourist regions during the summer season.
