Feta cheese production is facing significant challenges as sheep's milk output has dropped by approximately 15,000 tons, attributed to a widespread livestock disease affecting dairy herds. This decline in raw material availability is putting pressure on Greece's iconic cheese industry, which relies heavily on quality sheep's milk for production.
The market has managed to remain relatively stable despite the production shortfall, thanks to existing reserves that producers have maintained. These stockpiles are acting as a buffer, allowing the feta market to absorb the current supply constraints without experiencing severe price volatility or shortages.
